Short while ago, around 9.45 pm a Minor explosion has occured at Gaspaha junction in Pettah. 8 People were injured following the blast. The national hospital says that 2 of them are critical. Few vehicles are damaged. Police suspect that it was a grenade. Injured people stated "The blast could be an underworld operation".
Unknown gunmen shot a Freelance Journalist in Batticaloa
This evening, Freelance Journalist Radhika Devakumari(45), a former media coordinator of Pillayan has been shot in Batticaloa around 7.45 pm. According to the Police She was shot nearby her house by an unknown gunmen and she has been wounded seriously. Formely she worked for "Thinakaran" as a journalist and her profession is teaching.Triple air raids target LTTE gathering - Nachchikudha
Sri Lanka Air Force fighter jets carried out three air raids targeting gatherings of LTTE reinforcement cadre in the North of Nachchikudha this afternoon (Sept 8), said Air Force spokesperson Wing Commander Janaka Nanayakkara .
